Aranui 3

Aranui 3 is a unique passenger/freighter that provides the only real lifeline between the Marquesas Archipelago and the outside world.

Compagne Polynesienne

Aranui 3, which was purpose built in 2002, is uniquely designed for its dual role as a freighter/passenger ship. She carries 2000 tons of cargo and 200 passengers, some 1500 kms north east of Tahiti to some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world.

As for the Marquesas Archipelago, it can only be described as a visual paradise of lush, jagged volcanic islands. The unspoiled landscape of the islands is simply breathtaking. Many only have small sparsely populated villages which time has seemingly passed by. Often you, the ship's passengers, are their only visitors.

Remember, this is not a cruise ship. Yet, you will be pleasantly surprised by the amenities onboard. The accommodation comprises 86 fully air-conditioned, serviced cabins; ranging from the top-of-the-range Suites with balconies, to Deluxe cabins and twin bedded Standard A cabins. There are two lounges, a bar, library, swimming pool, sundeck and an elegantly appointed dining room that holds 150 people. Dining is very casual and there is no allocated seating.

Another unique aspect of a 13-night voyage on Aranui 3 is that all the land-based excursions are included in the price of the cabin, and free wine is served with both lunch and dinner whilst onboard. The land-based excursions, undertaken in 4WD vehicles, driven by locals, take place while the ship loads and unloads at each destination.
