RSSC have the reputation of providing more space and having a higher crew to passenger ratio than any other major cruise line. The ships are marketed mainly to North Americans but there is always a smattering of other English speaking nations represented amongst the passengers. The ships are modern in design and layout and each one is equipped with a large internet centre and Carita of Paris spa. The ships are American owned and operate out of Fort Lauderdale. The atmosphere aboard is therefore very American and aimed at pleasing middle aged professionals and the retired. Most passengers are repeat customers and during the school holidays anything up to 20% of cruisers will be travelling with children.
The line offers world spanning cruises and operates in all of the popular seas such as the Baltic, Mediterranean, Caribbean and the South Pacific Islands. The line offers two world circling cruises each year. It also occasionally offers cruises to the Arctic or Antarctic as well as countries in South America. The ships are fitted out in a way to give a feeling of classic, genteel comfort. There is nothing over-excited and raw about them at all. Nevertheless, they offer all of the latest amenities found on most modern cruise ships. The dress code reflects the tone of the ships. This is expected to be elegant casual after 6pm with no T-shirts, baseball caps, shorts or bathrobes allowed in public areas in the evenings.
All cabins on Regent ships are referred to as suites. They are large by modern cruise ship standards and all have ocean views. There have all of the usual amenities and plenty of storage space with walk-in closets. Only a few suites have a bathtub but all bathrooms are fitted out to a high standard and provided with a range of top quality toiletries. The top of the range suites have a butler service but all other accommodation has 24 hour room service offering such things as sandwiches, pizzas, burgers and pasta. Passengers may also order from the main restaurant menu. All suites are equipped with a mini-bar and consumption of the contents is included in the price. A bowl of fresh fruit is also kept topped up by the stewardess each morning. The ships all have a small number of specially adapted suites for disabled passengers.
Dining is a delight on Regent Seven Seas ships. All meals are served in the main dining room and all are served from a menu. The dining rooms are spacious meaning that diners never feel cramped. Every meal has a wide choice of dishes and there are always healthy eating and vegetarian options on offer. At dinner there are also low-carb and no-salt menus available. Reflecting the line’s positive attitude to children, they have their own menu but are not forced to choose from it. There are alternative venues on each of the ships which tend to be elegant bistros serving the cuisine of various countries around the world. The steakhouses are particularly popular where prime steaks and seafood dominate the dishes available.
One of the great things about Regent Seven Seas is that their prices are all inclusive. There are no extras to pay for and there is a no-tipping policy. Regent Seven Seas aim to attract professionals, with or without children and the retired. The fares are not cheap, but when it is considered that the cruise price is all inclusive, the price becomes very competitive. The line’s aim is to give excellent value for money by providing large staterooms and excellent service.
