Pandaw River Cruises in Malaysian Borneo
The Rajang is Malaysia's longest river. It flows some 760 kilometres through Borneo, irrigating a remote region that supports pristine jungle, Iban longhouse communities, the orangutan and a host of native fauna and flora. Towns along the river retain the feel and charm of an important river trading communities with tiny shop-houses, markets, Chinese temples, and narrow market laneways. Other towns reflect the British colonial legacy and together with visits to Iban longhouses (an animist people with a strong cultural heritage), you experience a fascinating mix of cultures. With the integrity of the jungle-clad riverbanks, home to a wide range of animals and birdlife, along with superb river scenery, the Rajang is a source of history, cultural interaction and native jungle.
- 11 Day Rajang Explorer - begins with a day in historic Kuching, before flying to Sibu to join Orient Pandaw. Heading up river as far as the Pelagus Rapids, you make stops along the way at villages and other historical points of interest. Departure and arrival transfers are included as is the domestic flight from Kuching to Sibu.
